Currently I am working on 2D materials and their heterostructures. I am interested in their electrical and optical properties for possible applications in devices like transisitors, photodetectors and gas sensors. My groups has assembled a home built PL set up along with a 2D materials transfer setup.

In the past i been working on self Assembled Monolayers studies using Scanning Tunnelling Microscope (STM). My interest to molecular elctronics and SAMs began with my density functional theory (DFT) studies of atomic wires and molecular devices. I started my research carrier during my MPhil at University of Engineering and Technology Lahore Pakistan, where I was working on thin film fabrication using Pulsed Laser Deposition Technique (PLD). After that I moved to New Zealand where I continued my work in nanotechnoogy at University of Canterbury. During My PhD I studied electronic properties espacially switching behaviour in percolating films of atomic slusters and physical propetries such as coalescence and structure of such films. I had a chance to broaden my field and exposure dring my stay at IBM Almaden USA. Where I worked on Block Copolymer Self assembly. My interest in charge transport properties in nanostructures continued when I joined COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Lahore as an assistant professor in 2012. However, to learn underlying physics I started to dig deaper using DFT technique using ATK (Atomistix tool kit). My group explored the atomic and molecular devices such as gold atomic wire and various oligomers. To apply these results in actual world our group tuned attention towards STM. We are in process of building one in our lab and have bought nanosurf easy scan 2 for this puropose in 2018. The journey of learing and exploration continues...
