Dr. Siddiqi joined IRCBM, COMSATS IIT, Lahore in June 2011 after rendering a long service (38 years) at the Centre for Solid State Physics (CSSP), University of the Punjab, Lahore. Dr. Siddiqi has been involved in a number of areas of importance to the establishment and development of a newly created Centre of Excellence in 1973. This includes planning and establishment of new research laboratories such as X-ray Diffraction, Materials Science, Scanning Electron Microscopy, EPMA and AES laboratories. He has produced six Ph.D’s, and more than 80 M.Phil. and M.Sc. students. Dr. Siddiqi also served as Director, (CSSP) from1996 -to 1999. Dr. Siddiqi is an active experimental Materials Scientist with more than 130 research publications in journals of international repute with impact factor exceeding 100. He has 25 articles on popular Science to his credit.  Dr. Siddiqi has been declared ’The most active scientists of Pakistan” by MOST and has also been rewarded many times with the Research and Productivity awards for outstanding research out put. He has participated in about 45 National and International Conferences and Seminars/Workshops and has presented his research work. Dr. Siddiqi is a member of many research Societies. He acted as a Jury Member for the selection of the Physicist for “King Faisal International Prize in Physics, 2005”, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is also  President of Pakistan Physical Society (2014). 

 

Dr. Siddiqi is working on the following research projects at IRCBM:

 

1-Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Bioceramics for Orthopedic Applications. 

 

2- Hydroxy-apatite based scaffolds preparation and its Tissue Engineering, IRCBM project.

 

3-Preparation of Biomaterials from Natural Marine Sources

 

4-Deposition of Bioceramic Coatings onto metallic substrates using Dip Coating, Electrophoretic and Blasting techniques for Application in Biomedical Implants.

 

5- Preparation and Characterization of Biomaterials by Electro Spinning Technique:

 

Dr. Siddiqi Founded Khwarizmi Science Society, Pakistans most active grass-roots science organization, in 1996 and headed it as its President to date. The Society has enabled a paradigm shift of scientific education in select institutions inside Pakistan, and since 1997, has served thousands of students and members of the public with the free dissemination of scientific knowledge in the form of seminars, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions, informal gathering, conferences and symposiums.
