Dr. Maaida Hussain Hashmi is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore campus. She holds a Ph. D (Labor Economics) degree. She has a specialization in the field of Labor economics with a special interest in the economics of education and the working of the labor market. She is working at CUI Lahore since 2011 and over the years she remains involved in teaching various new and challenging courses and modules. She is actively involved in the research and showed her keen interest after producing quality research papers and research projects. She has won the faculty development scholarship from the CUI and pursued a Ph.D. in Labor Economics from Lancaster University, UK. Her research is covering the area of educational efficiency analysis. She has done research on the efficiency of the educational institutes of Pakistan, and she tried to figure out the reasons for the inefficiency of primary schools and the low literacy rate in Pakistan. Over the years she has presented her research work from her Ph.D. work at various international conferences held in the UK, USA, Thailand, Greece, and Malaysia with the sponsorship of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan and Lancaster University, UK. She has a special interest in organizing extra circular activities both for the faculty members and students. In near future, she plans to establish a student counseling center to provide them support to cope with educational and emotional stress and depressional disorders. 

Other Responsibilities 

Batch advisor, Member of the event management committee, member of proctoral board, Member of the finance committee of Global Forum on Islamic Finance, convocation and orientation reception committee, and admission committee at CIIT Lahore.
