Dr. Robina Farooq has a strong academic, teaching and research background. She has a number of credits and honors in her career. The academic career of Dr. Robina Farooq is comprised of brilliant successes. In every competitive environment, she proved herself the Best. During her academic carrier, she secured 1st positions in three excellent Universities i.e., University of Punjab (B. Sc., Chemistry), University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (M. Sc.) and East China University of Science and technology, Shanghai, China (PhD, Environmental Engineering). Most of her studies are on different scholarships e.g., President’s Talent Scholarship in 1988, Cultural Scholarship for PhD studies in 1999, BASF scholarship in 2003, etc. She proved her abilities not only in Pakistan but in China as well. During her PhD studies, she won the awards of Best Papers of years 2001, 2002 and 2003 and she also won the BASF Scholarship for being an excellent student of the year 2003.

Dr. Robina Farooq established Department of Chemistry at CIIT Abbottabad. She developed and taught courses to graduate and post graduate level students in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. She has been teaching the courses of Environmental Chemistry, Pollution Control Technologies, Sustainable Development, Analytical Techniques and Waste water Technologies to BS and MS / PhD.She participated in the development of HEC National Curricula for BS and MS Chemistry at Pakistan.

During her stay at COMSATS, her various research projects were awarded under Sweddish Research Link Program, Sweden, Pak-US, Pak-China, HEC and CIIT, Islamabad. Along with her teaching and research supervising responsibilities, she is also working as the reviewer of Journals. She has published numerous books, book chapters, more than 60 research papers in international and national Journals, granted two patents by USPTO, USA. She is active in developing laboratories and laid the strong foundation in research at CIIT Abbottabad and Lahore. She established the laboratories of Analytical, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, etc. She has been supervising MS and PhD students in research areas related to the treatment of waste water containing heavy metals and hazardous substances of industrial effluents of pesticides, tanneries, textiles and metal industries. She also worked as the reviewer of the technical research projects submitted to different research granting agencies like Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Science Foundation and Ministry of Science and technology, Pakistan.
