Dr. Murid Hussain obtained his BSc Chemical Engineering degree from Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2001. In year 2002, he went to Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea for his MS Chemical Engineering with scholarship by KOSEF and KAIST. He obtained his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from KAIST in year 2008 funded by KRF and KAIST.

Dr. Hussain joined Department of Chemical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Lahore as Assistant Professor in February 2008 right after completing his PhD from KAIST, South Korea. In July 2008; he went to Politecnico di Torino, Italy for his Post-Doctorate funded by Regione Piemonte and Politecnico di Torino, Iatly. He had chance there to work on various catalytic and photocatalytic based European projects.

Dr. Hussain served as a Head of the Department/Chemical Engineering @CUI Lahore Campus from February 2019 to July 2022. He has also served as Chairman/Chemical Engineering Departemnt from July 2018 to March 2021. Currently, Dr. Hussain is working as Associate Professor(Chemical Engineering) and has been actively participating in various research, academic and administration activities at Department of Chemical Engineering, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. He has published more than 160 journal articles in well know SCI journals in the field with cumulative impact factor >1100. His research work has more than 5500 citations and an overall h-index of 45 and i10-index of 112. He has attended several renowned international conferences held in various developed countries. He is recipient of "BEST RESEARCHER AWARD of Chemical Engineering for the year 2017 by COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus". He has been ranked among the top productive scientists of Pakistan in the field of Engineering and received Research Productivity Awards (in years 2015, 2016, 2017) by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST). He has received "Recognition Award" by Pakistan Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE) and has also been awarded with "PIChE Best Academic Performance Award"

Dr. Hussain is currently leading Catalysis & Reaction Engineering Research Group and has a diverse working experience on the development of nanomaterials, heterogenous catalysis, photocatalysis and their applications in the area of energy and environment. The research group with MS & PhD students is currently working on several funded applied projects (SRGP, TDF, NRPU) for research and products development and is striving to promote academia-industry linkage.
