I, Dr. Muhammad Adnan Khan, belong to Safi tribe of Mohmand agency, FATA, Pakistan (1986). I did my early schooling from University Public School Peshawar. After securing good marks in Matric, I spent the next two years in Edwardes college, Peshawar. In 2004, I was lucky enough to be enrolled at Khyber college of dentistry and start my journey as a dentist.
During my years at KCD, I topped 2nd and 3rd professional BDS exam. In 2009, I was awarded “Best Graduate student of 2008-09 session- Khyber Medical University”. In addition to my academic activities, I always participated in co-curricular activities. I was the sub-editor of English section “Qindeel” magazine 2006 session. In addition to this, I also captain the basketball and squash teams.
In 2010, after my house job, I cleared FCPS part-1 in dentistry and started training as postgraduate trainee in Orthodontics at KCD. In the meantime, I was awarded Higher Education Commission Pakistan overseas scholarship for postgraduate PhD studies. I got admission in MPhil leading to PhD program at Eastman Dental Institute, University College London for the Fall 2011 session.
After 4 years of hard work, I was awarded PhD in Dental Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering from the department of Biomaterials and tissue engineering, UCL Eastman Dental Institute London, United Kingdom. During this time, I also served as a student officer at University College London.
During my PhD degree, I worked with renown biomaterials scientists at Biomaterials and Tissue engineering Centre Eastman Dental Institute, UK. I worked on development of novel dental and bone composite with potential to re-mineralize the decayed tooth and bone tissue. In addition to this, I worked on material characterization and assessing the antibacterial efficacy of different dental and bone composite. I also published several research papers in impact factor journals. During my time at Eastman Dental Institute, I supervised PhD, DDent and MSc students in their research projects.
