About the Department

The Department of Economics at CUI, Lahore Campus, initially a part of the Management Sciences Department, began offering an undergraduate degree in Economics in 2009. Expanding its academic portfolio, the department launched a full-time MPhil program in Economics in 2013. In response to the growing demand for focused economic studies, it was established as an independent Department of Economics in 2018. Continuing its evolution, the department has most recently introduced a PhD program in Economics, starting from Spring 2023.

As the Head of the Department of Economics at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, I am delighted to welcome you to a department distinguished by its dedication to academic excellence and impactful research. Our department, recognized in the 301-400 range by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023, is a testament to our outstanding teaching and research accomplishments. Our academic journey began with the introduction of the BS Economics program in 2009 and the MS Economics program in 2013. We are excited to announce the launch of our PhD Economics program in Spring 2024, further expanding our commitment to advanced economic studies.
